It is important to understand that AutoRECOVER can recover only files that were open when Word or your Mac crashes. The time interval for writing the AutoRecover file is governed by Word Preferences > Save
The setting is in Word > Preferences > File Location These files are sometimes recoverable if Word crashes. You can leave the default setting as is, or you can specify a location (must be in your Documents folder) for your AutoRECOVER files.
